Ships Electronic Services Expand Engineering Team With Apprentices

Ships Electronic Services (SES), a market leader in maritime communication and navigation electronics have taken the positive step of taking on new apprentices to add to their growing team of professional qualified electronic engineers.

Managing Director of SES, Stephen Roper commented: “We found from previous experience that trainees are keen to learn and are highly motivated individuals that bring fresh ideas to the company. As an enlightened employer, we believe in investing for the future of both the individual trainee and for the company. We take great pleasure in giving young people the chance to progress.”

Trainees gain invaluable first-hand experience by being trained on site by a highly qualified engineer for the majority of their apprenticeship while continuing with their studies once a week at college. Charles Warwick, who began his apprenticeship with SES last year, is based at the Grimsby site and currently studying for an HNC in electrical and electronic engineering. Alex Maloney, another trainee studying for a National Diploma in electronics and electrical engineering started his apprenticeship with SES in July at the Rochester site.

SES has previously had successful experiences with apprentices at their Rochester and Grangemouth site.

SES is a market leader with 35 years’ experience in supplying, installing and maintaining maritime communication and navigation electronics, operating from six strategic sites in the UK.
